Singapore citizens can enter Malaysia without a visa and are exempt from the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). Foreign residents of Singapore whose nationality needs a visa apply online for a Malaysia eVISA. The Malaysia visa photo is 35 mm wide by 50 mm high, with the head 30–35 mm from chin to crown, on a plain background with no shadows. White is the safest background.

eVISA photos are checked automatically

Malaysia has added automated photo checks to eVISA applications. The official requirements list blurred or tilted photos, and faces that are too small or too far away, as reasons for rejection, so crop carefully to the 30–35 mm head size.

Paper visa applications at the High Commission

The High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore asks paper visa applicants for one recent colour passport-size photo, 3.5 × 5.0 cm, on a white background, with a neutral expression, eyes open and no head covering except for religious reasons.

Singaporeans entering Malaysia

Singapore passport holders do not need a visa or the MDAC; Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises visa-free stays of up to 30 days. Singaporeans who want to enrol their fingerprints for the automated e-gates can still submit the MDAC up to 3 days before arrival. The MDAC does not ask for a photo.
