Work Pass Photos: EP, S Pass & Work Permit

What the Ministry of Manpower needs for Employment Pass, S Pass and Work Permit photos, and when your card photo is taken.

Looking for Employment Pass photo, S Pass photo or Work Permit photo requirements? The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) works differently from ICA. It does not publish a separate photo-file specification for applications. Instead, it relies on your passport and, where required, takes your photo itself at registration.

Photos in your work pass application

MOM's list of documents for work pass applications asks for a copy of the personal particulars page of your passport, and states that the photograph on it must show your facial features clearly. When you scan or photograph your passport page:

  • scan it flat in colour, with no glare across the photo;
  • make sure the whole page is visible and in focus;
  • do not crop or edit the passport photo.

Fingerprint and photo registration

After your pass is approved, MOM may require you to register your fingerprints and photo in person. This depends on your pass and is stated in your notification letter. MOM takes the photo for your pass card at this session.

MOM registration timing
Employment Pass Register within 2 weeks of the pass being issued, if required
S Pass Register within 1 week, if required
Work Permit Registration at the MOM Services Centre, if required

Check your notification letter for the exact deadline and location.

Dress for the camera

Your registration photo will be on your pass card for years. Wear a top that contrasts with a light background, keep your hair away from your face and remove tinted glasses.

Dependant's Pass and LTVP for family members

Dependant's Passes and Long-Term Visit Passes for the families of work pass holders are also handled by MOM, using the same document approach. Family passes for spouses or parents of Singapore citizens and PRs are handled by ICA instead. See our ICA pass photo guide.

Work pass photo FAQ

MOM does not publish a separate photo file specification for work pass applications. You upload the personal particulars page of your passport, and MOM asks that the photograph on it shows your facial features clearly.

If your notification letter says so, MOM takes your photo and fingerprints at registration, after your pass is approved. The photo printed on your pass card comes from that session.

Some third-party sites quote this for MOM, but we could not find it in MOM's current published requirements. Follow the instructions in your application portal or from your employer.
