NZeTA and New Zealand Visa Photo Requirements

Singaporeans need an NZeTA to visit New Zealand, and it uses the same photo rules as New Zealand visas.

Singapore is a visa waiver country, so Singaporeans can visit New Zealand for up to 3 months without a visa but need an NZeTA first. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) uses one set of rules for NZeTA and visa photos: a JPG of 512 KB to 3.14 MB in a 3:4 portrait ratio, with your face filling 70–80% of the image on a plain, neutral background, taken within the last 6 months.

How INZ suggests taking the photo

Stand about 0.5 m in front of the background, with the photographer about 1.5 m away. Selfies are accepted only in the NZeTA mobile app, and INZ still recommends that someone else takes your photo.

NZeTA photo for Singaporeans

Apply for the NZeTA in the official NZeTA app or on the Immigration New Zealand website. You need your passport and an acceptable photo, or a device that can take one. The NZeTA costs NZD 17 in the app or NZD 23 on the website, plus the International Visitor Levy of NZD 100. It is valid for 2 years; allow up to 72 hours for processing.

New Zealand visitor visa photos

Foreign residents of Singapore whose nationality needs a visa apply online for a New Zealand visitor visa and upload a photo that follows the same rules. A paper application form still exists for some cases, and paper applications need a printed photo 35 mm wide by 45 mm high.
